Focus Attention on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Annie Duke mightn’t have captured her first WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she is one of the most powerful poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with success at the "cast aside game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker go crazy after a large win at the tournament, Annie heads back home to be "mom" to her 4 kids. Annie was born in New Hampshire into a family of poker competitors. If you do not accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who coached her how to play the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has captured her share of demanding tables, including knocking out Howard a few times along the way. They’re both players that have the ability to capture the big cash and do so with a smile.

Annie is a strong player at any poker table because she is a true poker player, but it is a bit more than just being great at the game. Mrs. Duke is surprisingly smart and graduated from Columbia U where she majored in English and Psychology.

When you take a seat across from Annie at the poker table you know Annie is there to play the game and she begins "sizing" you up from the time you join the poker table. If you can not play like a camp, then do not bother.

Winning over $3 million in tournament play, Annie Duke became a adviser to both the UltimateBet website and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to enhance his skills and develop into a force at the poker table.

You might just see her at the Bellagio, you will see Annie on television and you may even participate against her in an online poker game, but don’t count on a simple win. Except of course you are a camp-in-the-making, you will not beat her. Although, it’d be fun to mention you played at the at the table with "The Duke".
